Trip to Guatemala - Travel journal in the Mayan land

September 07 - At some point when living in New York, it becomes urgent (vital ?) to get some fresh air off of this crowded, polluted, stressful, expensive but (of course!) amazing city.

Stay in the US ? No, we need a dramatic change. Middle East or Asia ? Too far for our short vacations. Central America ? Yes, close and a priori on a budget.

But where ? Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico (Yucatan and Chiapas), Belize …….. “Oh ! Look what I found ! $280 return tickets to Guatemala City !”. Boom - done deal.

In September 2007, we bought return tickets to Guatemala without knowing anything about this country. End October, we came back the head full of images, scents, souvenirs of this amazing and multi-sided country.

We tell here the story of our trip, the advices we would give, and show some of the pictures of this beautiful country.
