Trip to Guatemala - Travel journal in the Mayan land

Our trip was a short but intense trip that allowed us to see many different places. Colonial cities, volcanoes, natural pools in the jungle, markets, ceremonies, Mayan thousand years old lost cities, conquistador church ruins, …..

Here was our route:
Arrival in Guatemala city, mini van to Antigua.

Trip to San Pedro on Lake Atitlan: mini van to Los Encuentros, wrong VIP bus not to the right “San Marcos” …… , mini van to San Pedro

Trip to Quetzaltenango: boat to Panajachel, chicken bus to Solola and its market, breakfast, chicken bus to Los Encuentros, deadly chicken bus to Quetzaltenango.

Trip to Semuc Champey: tourist mini van for 8 hours including 4 hours of dirt track, arrival in Cobal under apocalyptic rain, mini van to Lanquin (2 hours of dirt track under monsoon rain), taxi to Semuc Champey on dirt track and fallen trees.

Trip to Tikal: hitch-hiking to Coban, night in Coban, local bus to Flores with boat crossing at Sayaxche, lunch in Flores, mini van to Tikal
